Design trends 2022

The past two years have been nothing short of challenging, with a pandemic that has changed the way everyone lives and interacts. With effects that have touched all aspects of our lives, 2022 design trends are reflective of some of the transformations that have found their way into the way we live, work, play, relax and so much more!

As our homes have become a refuge from the harsh world outside, warmer earthy tones are transitioning out the grays that have been a staple for the past few years. We will see a lot more nature inspired color palettes - browns, greens, terracotta -think vintage 70s.

Touchable Textures

Texture texture and more texture - layer it on! Again, this is going back to the need to create cozy cocoon spaces. Textures add warmth and a lot of visual interest even in a monochromatic color scheme.

Repurposing Furniture

There is an increased awareness around our consumption habits, this is especially true in the furniture industry. Increased sensitivity to depleting resources has become the push for reusing/recycling/upcycling furniture. The big plus is you end up with a truly unique piece that you will cherish for many more years to come.

No more boxy rigid lines, 2022 is all about curves! Rounded edges, curvilinear lines emphasizes the transition to natural & organic shapes. Look for sculptural pieces in furniture - art, form and function come together in new and exciting ways!

Bring the Outdoors in!

The connection to the outdoors has extended indoors with a growing interest in indoor plants, from succulents to large potted trees there is room for all of it!

Interweaving Tech and Design

Technology has slowly and steadily woven through the fabric of our lives and it is the same for interiors. With the pandemic there has been a leap-frogging in how technology has helped connect friends, family & communities in new and meaningful ways and some of these changes are here to stay. Choosing technology that matches your needs while creating a comfortable responsive space is a thoughtful approach to designing spaces.
